The Taste that will never Sweet: Dharmapuri Bus Burning Case

the 2nd February 2000, on this dark day, three girl students of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore was burnt down by the workers of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kalagam (AIADMK) of which Miss. J. Jayaalalitha is the reigning supremo. On that day Miss. J. Jayaalalitha was convicted in Pleasant Hotel case on corruption charges and immediately after the verdict all round riot took place across Tamil Nadu. It took ugly, inhuman turn in my native place, Dharmapuri where these innocent students were burnt alive inside bus near Illakiampatti, where I got my schooling.
It was so shocking to see the rioters torching shops and other properties owned by Dravida Munnetra Kalagam (DMK) particularly the properties and shops belonging to Scheduled Castes was torched and destroyed. This fact never came in mainstream news papers. I have seen those people marching in and around Dharmapuri town eying particular shops belongs to other community. Another group went on to Illakiampatti and got hold of the Bus in which the students of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University traveling on education tour was stopped, stoned, petrol canned, burnt in which three unfortunate girls were confined to flames for no fault of theirs. To see this horrific incident one needs more of guts. I Still remember theirs charred bodies at the door steps of the ill-fated Bus.
I am happy at least today, the Friday, the 16th February 2007 for the Sessions court in Salem pronouncing death sentence against three AIADMK workers and awarding 25 others Seven-Year sentences in the Dharmapuri bus burning case. Though, they can appeal in higher court within a month's time I would be happy enough that these communal, anti-social, inhuman people get their taste. I have heard long before that anti social and communal elements in Dharmapuri district and elsewhere set vehicles ablaze only after letting the people inside to get down. This act of cowardice should be dealt with strongest terms. This case also throws light on the fate of “Witness Turns Hostile”. May be the title seems right fit for a Hollywood movie but for those who lost someone near and dear in these kinds of incidents is big Question mark. Let our parliamentarians look into it.
I will be back after getting the whole judgments in hand…

Dare Devil at Work

I have reached Koimbedu Central Bus station early morning at 5.05 AM today (22.06.2006) and boarded a bus bound for Adyar via IIT Madras. Fortunately the bus I travelled was escaped from fatal collision with an Heavy Truk bearing TN-22-4995 driven by one careless driver who was caught and warned by fellow commuters and driver of the bus. Later we were told that in the early morning people are driving at will ignoring trafiic regulations. I had took some photographs and at right shown was the vehicle involved in the incident that failed to turn to accident! To everybodies ire the driver of that heavy truck was worn only Underware, thats Half Naked...Save....

The Social Stigma of Jogini - the Atrocities on Dalit Community
Even after 58 years of independence from the clutches of British queen India is still gripping from the perpetrators of social evil forces. These forces from the day one consists of upper class Brahmins and the land lords from other upper and backward classes. These communal elements never bother about human rights. Their dictat on the lives of Scheduled castes (Dalits nowadays used generally) is still never vanished. Many enacted laws of the land turns blind eye to these communal violence. In every part of India the violence on these marginalised people took different forms from burning their huts, houses to murdering youths and raping women.
The latest incident of forcing a minor girl of age Eight to Social prostitution by her own parents at the will of other Caste-Hindus is the finest example of social evil. In the name of GOD (read Hindus) hapless children from this community becomes prostitutes in this progressive state of Andra Pradesh. They even call it is Community Sex! or Community Service! These poor girls of Dalit community forced to sell their beautiful bodies for Caste-Hindus in the villages at any time and at any place. The backbone for this social crimes is due to the illiteracy among the scheduled castes and the fear gripping them due to dictat of other caste Hindus and the bloody customs followed for long. Unfortunately Andra Predesh never had one Periyar..E.V.Ramasamy of Tamil Nadu. What was the use of having a Dalit as President of India and Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde as Gowerner in Andra Pradesh.
The expose of NDTV on Thursday, February 16, 2006 about this inhuman practice in the district of Ranga Reddy is very much titled "New beginning for AP 'child bride' ". Is forcing a child for prostitution is accounted to bride? Shame on NDTV...Over the years NDTV and its Pranoy Roy accomplished many things but the correspondent Uma Sudhir failed to use appropraite term for this offence and thereby creating communal bias. Her act of using "Child Bride" is highly condemnable. It shows her evil mindset.
The perpetrators who unleash social crimes in the name of Religion has to be awarded highest punishment of the land then only these kind of inhuman acts would vanish from this holy land of butchered criminals.
What is wrong in calling these criminals as Terrorists?
The Health of Indian Railways
Today I was returning from Bangalore after attending one of my friend's marriage yesterday. Fortunately, I got an current reservation in an Chair Car (AC) in Chennai Express No. 6524 but to my dismay it was just Three-Tier AC that too instead of three we accomodated four creating space crunch and lots of inconvenience. The mood was failed to change till the end. To the best our surprises the TTE (Traveling Ticket Examiner) was very outrageous in his comments and the way he is treating the passengers.
During the reservation no one was aware that we would be accommodated in an AC 3-Tier in place of Chair Car. How these irresponsible TTE expects the poor junta to cancel their tickets? Worse for the matter they are given 3-Tier for sleeping!
thee whole unpleasant incident sparked an discussion among the commuters why not we go for privatization of railways for better amenities and treatment. My argument was that given the largest railway network in the world it is not possible to privatise railways at one go instead one can start with maintenance of railway stations and coaches. The recent decision of Railway Ministry to go for privatising or allowing private players in container business was in good direction. It will definitely cater the needs of growing demand for infrastructure development. One can appreciate Mr. Lallu Prasad Yadav and his deputy Mr. Velu for their vision and after long years railways running in good profit, Health always matters!
I was fortunate to see the stations neat and clean only when VIP's like ministers visiting railway stations to inaugurate Computer reservation centres other times its just like garbage stations. (Courtesy fellow Indians used to spit elsewhere!) I hope I am not heavily taxed!
Privatisation is also not possible in this government agency simply for single reason that we can not done away with reservation. If reservation is extended to private enterprises then one can foresee privatisation of railways otherwise it is not possible.
And the train was arrived at chennai 30 minutes late as usual!
Still it is India!
I was forced some time back to undertake a train journey for some reason in an unreserved compartment. Generally I love to travel in Trains for longer distance for their economy, convenience and for some other good reasons. But the situation is very different in the case of journey in unreserved compartments. One can see the chaos during exit and in entering this compartments. Even if the person traveled in good mood definitely he/she will experience bitterness and irritation for not allowed to exit honorably. The guys from the platforms used to enter these compartments forcefully and the persons inside the train are forced to stay back for a while and thereby creating commotion. Why this junta still behaving like this? Even in Bus stations and/or Bus Stands people are used throng at one go and few of them are used to reserve their seats in unreserved coaches, buses! Are these gus are willing to pack their horseback for burial ground or grave yard before nature envelopes them?
In some cases I personally experienced that few people sell space in unreserved coaches for a fee! The problem may persists in all major stations in India but I experienced many times in Chennai (Madras) Central and at Chennai Egmore stations.
Change is inevitable
but for our poor guys
it is just another Change!
Adult Education - The BrainChild of Karnataka Government
The recent decision of the Mr. Kumaraswamy's coalition government in Karnataka to impart adult education is in right direction. About 70% of adult population in this state is illiterate. To educate this large section of people the government planning to utilize the service of educated unemployed youths that too for service tag! Rs. 30/- for general, 50 for women and 100 for SC/ST's. Lets hope this project would succeed in its endeavors. Atlast the Kumaraswamy government is started acting its on development agenda even they are at the verge of expulsion from the Mr.Deve Gowda's JD(S). Before executing this project the government should study similar projects imparted in other states such as Tamil Nadu, its advantages, disadvantages and achievement.

The Baby is IN
Another political drama unfolded in the democratic set up of Karnataka when Mr. H. D. Kumaraswamy, the estranged! Son of Former Prime Minister Shri. H.D. Deve Gowda sworn as Chief Minister of Karnataka. He has to prove his Political Opportunistic Alliance's majority on the floor of the house within eight days.
It seems the baby is in now at the helm of affairs. We have to wait for some time to see the unfurling of colours and political comedy next week in this state since the Congress which all set to oppose the present power dispensation in tooth and nail. But there is little chance to end this wedlock of rebel JD (S) and BJP unless Deve Gowda played his card decisively.
The next days will be Tug of War between Deve Gowda and his son; it is expected that lot of fireworks will be in the air. If there are no fireworks in the air it may not be difficult for any one to assume that it is just Deve Gowda Playground.
the baby is out? Wait and see for the moment.

The another face of Dr. Mulford
Dr. David C. MulfordThe controversial U.S ambassador to India Dr. Mulford is basically an economist not a politician as one presumes to be. I had an opportunity to listen Dr. Mulford when he visited Indian Institute of Technology Madras on September 01, 2005 for an interactive session with students. I have already written a story on this on September 2, 2005 in this blog.
Honestly speaking I expected something new from him but unfortunately he reproduced what he did at Kolkatta and Agra the same year. From the very beginning he has underscored the importance of India in global scene and mentioned the slip-tong of Ms. Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of state that her government will HELP India to become Superpower! He is rightly said that the US government is against India-Iran gas pipeline project as it is not going to be commercially viable. Why he unnecessarily cares for India? One must think.
The US as before is against the energy security of India. It tries very hard to make India to depend on them so that they can rule most of planet earth. There is nothi
ng new about his recent controversial remarks about the voting in IAEA meeting. As a US commercial agent it is right for him to set conditions for another firm to accept their pricing since theirs is the only one superpower in the world. When the monopoly ends there would be a level playing filed for all other nations. Unnecessarily he tries to undermine the sovereign rights of an independent country like India. It is for them to have nuclear cooperation with India to safeguard their interests. After all their interests will be protected since it persuaded India to separate the Civil-Military nuclear facilities for their betterment.
His efforts to blackmail India is as similar to what Junior Bush thundered world on eve of military strike against Iraq, either be with us or against. By linking IAEA vote to US-India nuclear cooperation is nothing new but another milestone of blackmailing. His interference in India’s foreign affairs is brought to light and all the political parties took exception to his unbecoming attitude. The demand to recall Dr, Mulford is growing from the opposition parties. In my sense, he is acting like a US commercial agent to safeguard, protect American industries and interests here.
In the large interests of both countries Bush administration should find replacement for Dr. Mulford else all good measures initiated by Clinton administration would fail.

the DownTrend of Saarang 2006...hey it is now Green Saarang!
The recent insident at IISc Bangalore stripped the crown of Saarang this year due to excessive security cover. Now, intelligent people at IIT Madras crowned it Green Saarang, hey what is in name? what is inside thats matters, right? nothing special compared to 2003 0r 2004.
Last year the organisers cherged Rs. 50 for Choreo Nite for Tsuname Cause but this year too? What happend? same Rs. 50 but no tickets even to the Junta of IIT, poor guys.
One more ugly alleged insident of manhandling a Eco-activist, filing case and counter case where it will lead to? It would have been better if the organisers involved the Environmentallists in waste disposal etc. You can not simply Treepass them after all it is our Crown you should keep it neet and clean else it will lose its sign...poor guys dont understand nothing about the Eco-enjoyment...see what happens next saarang sorry Green Saarang 2007.
Long Live Buta Singhji!
Stepping from the Governership of Bihar, Shri. Buta Singh proved that he is very much seasoned politician. His 40 years of political life if one happens to see, no doubt that it is full of up and downs but still he hogs the limelight. Thats is his speciality. I dont think his recommendation
of president rule in Bihar is wrong for only one reason. There is no political party or combination enjoyed clear majority. Horse trading or selling and buying of legislators! comes next. Shri. Buta Singh proved his administrative skill by conducting the election peacefully in the all-time history of Bihar. If Buta Singh is just any other there is no Nitish now in 1, Annemarg st,So lets cheers up buta...
Dismissing the government or implementing President rule requires Governer's nod but not a pre-requiste. The Union Government is empowered to verify the facts and figures submitted by the Governer. The very reasent incident warrent a serious analysis and interceptions. It is very difficult to accept the line of Hon'ble Supream Court in indicting Buta Sigh only instead it should have pointed fingers at Union Government too.
Finally Long Live Buta Singhji....
Dharam goes and Kumarasamy comes but for how Long?
The present political situation in the Indian state of Karnataka is throwing the spanner in the constitution of India basically for two reasons. Shri. Dharam Singh failed to utilise the time given by the Governer to prove his majority on the floor of the house and recognistion of Shri. Kumarasamy as the leader of JD(S) by the speeker which already has Shri. Prakash as the floor leader. I hope this is the first time in the indian political history that Shri. Dharam Singh is shortest served Cheif Minister among all states.
Wow, if Kumarasamy comes tomorrow and Yeddiurappa comes day after tomorrow but for how long the honeymoon will last. Both the parties are very against their ideology but chooses to allaign just for the sake of POWER yea its poor power. It is not difficult for anyone to believe that it is just Political Tamasha of JD (S) and BJP..The Congree should strengthen its base in Karnataka and its hiberbation given groth to BJP...
If you correct yourself its ok else u will be shown the door...Think for a while..

The Return of Congress in J and K
Congress decision to return to the hot seat of J & K has to be welcomed by one and all. The congress took three long decades to return to the government due to lack of political goodwill of the local congress leaders, the onslaught of regional political parties and the separatist movement by anti-national outfits supported from across the border. As a great national political party it should not shy away from running the state amid fears of increased terrorist activities in the state or for any other reason. Not staking claim for the CM post in its turn in the coalition government would turn against the party itself, it may alienate further away from the people who voted for the party in the last state election. The delay in the decision making is not warranted since the agreement between Congress and People Democratic Party due to the hung verdict in the 2002 election is clearly states that the first three years term for the PDP and the remaining three years for the Congress. The congress should have nominated its candidate for the post by this time anyway it is crystal clear that the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is all set to become CM of the state. One should not expect that the relief operations would be affected due to the change of guard at the state.
Congress should utilize this golden opportunity to regain its lost glory in the state by implementing various pro-peace measures, creating employment and other socio-economic measures. It is said that all the past Chief Ministers were from Kashmir valley and Shri. Ghulam Nabi Azad is the only person from Jammu region to take over the political mantle of the state. There should not be any political fall out because of this change of guard based on the region. There is nothing wrong if a person hailing from non-valley region to head the government. There is no such law stipulates that persons hailing only from Kashmir should head the government such notions detrimental to the very Constitution of the country.
Advance Congratulations and Best of Luck Mr. Azad.

Spotted Deer Killed by Dog at Krishna Hostel
Tonight at 9.30 PM a spotted deer has been attacked by a stray dog in the Krishna hostel campus. Reportedly the deer was tried to escape from the clutches of the dog and in the melee it was dashed off to the steel water pipe and felled onto the ground. Meantime inmates of the hostel moved away the dog and protected the deer from further dog bites but all the efforts went in vain since the spotted deer scuumbed to its injuries at 10 PM. Immediatly after the incident I rang up Cheif Security Officer (1/c) but of no use since his team arrived at 10.30 PM only. If the deer was given any first aid it might have saved its life and due to the negligence shown by the security people we lost on more deer. Every year 3-5 dears were killed by dogs alone. No effective remedial measures has been taken by the administration so for.

Tada waterfalls: a Trekking Experience can never be missed in Chennai Life
"Life is only traveled once, today’s moment becomes tomorrows memory, enjoy every moment good or bad because the gift of life is LIFE itself"
The trekking expedition to TADA falls was very thrilling, adventurous and enjoyable to each one us. We of 8 members undertook a journey yesterday (Saturday) to Tada waterfalls which falls in the border between the states of Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh. We started off the campus (IIT Madras)at 5.30 in the morning and boarded 5C at Madhya Kailash and reached Central Railway Station at 6.40AM and got into Gummidipoondi bound suburban train at 6.45AM (we bought tickets also! up to Tada, Rs.17 each). The train reached Gummidipoondi station at 8.30 AM on the way we relished some of fruits and snacks we were taking with us. There was another 30 minutes left to catch another train to reach Tada, which is another 20 minutes journey from Gummidipoondi station and choose to have some refreshments. We all had a good coffee at a shop nearby station and I took one Mysore Pauk after a long 12-13 years (which is tasty but shape and morphology is desi local) but Sathish took some omelet, he always eat well in plenty! From Gummidipoondi we started off at 09.05AM and reached Tada at 9.30 AM and had tender coconut (Rs 8/- each is reasonable and of good taste and plenty of water) and again we boarded a Andra Pradesh Government bus to Varadhyap palem which is some 30 KM away and reached there at 10.30AM. From there we got into a Share Auto for about 4 KMs and got out of it and started to walk all along the way to reach the falls which is another 5 kms away.
On the way we found a good place nearby a mango farm and we all had our breakfast (Chapattis and bread, butter and Jam and Tomato Thuvayal too) at 11.30 AM. Again started walking by 12.15 noon and after passing through ruff and tough stony, sloppy and muddy road and crossing the natural obstacles of 4 streams and many water logged road all the along the way we reached the spot but Waterfalls. After crossing 4 streams most of us failed to reach Tada falls basically for two reasons: The sky is started cloudy and there is little time out there to get out of the forest area before sun sets off and it is started raining too. But four of us (Varma, Satish, Arjun and me of course!) went ahead to see the falls but we ended up a small cave which is just few meters away from the falls. There we have seen two snakes in water stream near the cave well near our legs (just few cms away) and Arjun shouted in panic but that two snake escaped from our dragnet! This was the final obstacle to see off the falls but the rock is completely sloppy vertically and being raining it is difficult to climb up but three of us (except me) managed to climb up and ended up the falls and I choose to get back to the position where our remaining squad of 4 guys taking bath. The 15 minutes of lone trekking is awesome and thrilling one, if anything happens nobody is there to help or sound a alarm or for that matter to hear. We decided
to get down after all the guys took small bath (except me) and again had few snacks.
We started leaving the forest at 4.30 and choose to have lunch at (4.30 PM) at the second stream (beautiful and decent one). There guys prepared country fire to prepare a HOT Tea but unfortunately milk gone wild! All the efforts of these guys too. We had lunch at 5PM. still two packets of Lemon rice and 7 nos. chapatti left out and thrown into the nearby areas for feedstock for other living beings. The lemon rice and Tomato Thuvaiyal was excellent and very tasty. Everybody liked it. Thanks to master cooks…
Again we started trekking at 5.45 PM and after crossed the water logged path we reached Check dam at 7.30 PM. The beautiful Moon and Varmas's Cell phone guiding us in the darkness all along the way. Finally we got out of the forest area at 8pm and reached a Tea shop (its is really Petti kadai) near Avanti Leather Factory and had Tea from its owner Mrs. Rathnam, a 55+ lady. She was very friendly and treated us well. Few of the guys lied there for some time in some of the wooden cots and vamsi on concrete slab! and I avoided a curse
! from that lady for damaging the cot, overweight! I am just 72kgs! We were told that at least one or two guys losing their life here in the falls by falling in to the deep water just below the falls.
Shocking! All our cell phones are incommunicado but started getting signals near check dam and even at 7.30 PM I got a call from Mr. Mukesh, he wanted to see film "the Day after Tomorrow" at OAT but I was 70 KMS away. Again the signals completely vanished. Kuppan Chetty fortunately got signal in his BSNL mobile and called Alliyam, a auto driver in Varadhyap palem some 12 KMs away. He came to Avanti leather factory to pick us all up at 8.40Pm and we paid him a cool Rs. 80/- and immediately boarded Chennai bound bus no. 114. On the way the bus stopped a road side eatery and some of us had cool drinks (Thumps UP is my brand but very rarely nowadays) and others, just a cup of Tea. Finally we reached Koimbedu Central Moffusil bus Terminal (CMBT) at 10.45 PM and from there we got into a share auto for 8 guys in crammed condition and guys saved a cool Rs. 5/- per head! We reached IIT in gate at 11.30 PM and choose to have Tea from hot chips; it is about to down the shutter but Babu managed to get the stuff. At least he is worth for what he stands for! We all took our Bike (it is called Bicycle in our country) and reached hostel exactly 12 midnight. Now it is Sunday, I took bath, refreshed and started reading news papers of the day; The Hindu, Indian Express, Times of India, Business Line and Economic Times, these are some of my daily routine jobs.
One sad news we got from Mrs. Ranthnam opposite to Avanti Leather Factory was that each month at least one or two guys would end their life in the Tada falls out of mistake or intoxication or may be suicide. On the way to CMBT I happened to read one new article in the latest issue of Anantha Vikatan that Mr. Bashir, a friend of Mrs. Kanimozhi (Dr. Kalaignar Karunanith's daughter) lost his life there few years back. Tada falls regularly receives its guests only on the weekend and takes few lives too! All along the way one can see some of the broken liquor battles and plastic bottles of leading brands. We were told that most of the guys are from Chennai; normally they would arrive by either two wheelers or four wheelers like TATA Sumo that’s what we choose to take a comfortable! Train/bus/auto/trekking journey, hi it is money counts everywhere!
Guys who wants to venture in to the forest area to enjoy the beauty of Tada falls have to wear canvas shows, shorts, caps and of course plenty of drinking water and food. There is nothing we can get all along the way or near falls. No body is living there. Few village people will come for some work. It is advisable to get into the area by 7-8AM and get out of it before 4-5PM. If sunlight is low it is difficult to trace the path to get out. There are no wild animals living there to scare the gustes! But wild honey bees are eager to bite you if they are given a chance.

Pakistan or India, it is only money matters...
I was traveling in a auto to gunned from it's velachery gate. The auto driver and myself decided the fare (Rs. 20 to guindy station) and involved in smart talk on Economics! particularly petrol and oil. There, the drive put one embarrassing question is pakistan is in our country only, right? (Pakistani namma naatluthana irruku?)
He was pointing that the Petrol and Oil prices are less in Pakistan when compared to India. I politely mentioned that it is separate country. After a small research on OIL Economics on internet and other sources I found that few South-East Asian countries too enjoying OIL at very affordable cost, thats to say 50% less than Indian price. why is the difference since these two countires Malaysia and Indonesia sells at nearly 50% less thoug they are not having any oil reserves? mind you they are importing oil from same Middle East, from where we too importing oil. I concluded that it is just another OIL politics, then Bush is right in his oil policies?

Public DISorder
The resent public outburst against the Actress Kushboo for her remarks on premarital sex and virginity of Tamil women is totally justifiable for two reasons. Mrs. Kushboo does not have a moral right to speak on Tamil culture. She should not have intruded in to the personal spheres of an individual. Further how can she express that all educated men of Tamil Nadu would not expect their bride to be virgin, is it all the guys who are going to marry expect that all the girls has the privilege to have pre-marital relationships out of the culture of the land?. This article is not going to analyze her personal life since we respect one individual’s privacy at the same time she should not influence the public order with her uncharacteristic, defamatory remarks on the Tamil people particularly women. She should not apply her personal life as a model to public. Her unsavory remarks are of bad taste and have to be condemned by all right thinking men and women. As a well recognized actress she should have acted responsibly keeping the sensitivity of the issue and culture of the land. There should not be a partisan approach when dealing with Actress Kushboo or film director Mr. Thangar Bachaan. He was forced by the South Indian Film Artistes Association (SIFAA) to tender an unconditional apology to the film fraternity for his alleged remarks on actresses. Why not the same yardstick can not be applicable to Kushboo? In this episode the SIFAA acted irresponsibly and adopted a partisan approach. One may think her forward looking views or opinions have to be respected and it’s for an individual to accept or to reject her view. Then what about public order? Are everyone is free to do anything, whatever and whenever they want. Any acts which damages the public goodwill has to be punished according to the law of the land. The government has to take stringent view on this issue and investigate are there any condom makers or pharma companies behind this issue to boost their sales.

Nothing is beautiful without J & K
Yesterday I was attending one talk by Mr. Adam W. Ziegfeld, Graduate Student, Department of Political Science, Massachusetts institute of Technology. The talk was on "The 'Third Wave' of Regional Parties in Tamil Nadu: PMK, MDMK, and the New Justice Party in Two Tamil Constituencies". He has covered Socio-economic conditions of two assembly constituencies "Sholingur" and "Sivakasi" in Tamil Nadu. His study on the emergence of these caste-based political parties was not new one but it opend some insights in to the modern(caste) political scenario in India in general and Tamil Nadu in particular. I was deeply dissappointed with two aspects in his talk. He misrepresented Indian political map without the complete state of "Jammu and Kashmir". I was pointed out the discrepancy and mentioned that its totally unacceptable. To my shock, one of the Prof from the Depatment of Humanities and SocialSciences who introduced the speeker to the audience was justifying the speeker's version that that part (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) of kahsmir never undergone india election process. My question is that can we call it is an Unindian If any place in India which does not subjected the democratic election process? My point here is that the speeker should not misrepresent the facts and figures and its illegal to depict the Indian political map without J&K. Further I tried to correct him that he should not mislead people abraod or elsewhere by his presentation.
Another mistake he has committed is the use of word "parayars" the use of this word is banned many years back in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere and the use of such word would draw legal actions. I advised him to use "Adi Dravidars" in place of Parayars. I understood that few prof's from the Depatment of Humanities and Social Sciences may aware of his talk and should have corrected the same, to my dismay I afraid no such things happend.
After the talk was over I sent him the correct version of Indian Map (
http://www.eci.gov.in/ElectionMaps/PC/India_fs.htm) and detailed explanation to the terms of Adi Dravidars. The copy of which also been sent the Prof' who introduced him to the audience.
At the outset I would like point out that its very difficult to accept that a Political Science Ph.D student who specializing Regional Political Parties in South Asia is unaware of political map on India. I strongly believe that is very well calculated and manipulated to misrepresent our country, we should awake to scuttle their efforts.

Ambassidor Dr. Mulford's Address at IIT Madras
Dr. David Mulford’s interactive session with students of IITM on September 01, 2005 at CLT.
The institute has arranged for an interactive session with Ambassidor Dr. Mulford on his visit to Chennai and the time has been fixed at 5.15 PM but was started only at 6 PM since Dr. Mulford arrived very late to the venue and ended at 6.50 PM. He has started his address with how he got the news from Mr. Collin Powel, the then secretary of state about his appointment of ambassador to India when he was washing his car outside his home in London through his wife about Powel’s waiting on the phone. He took just 1 hr to decide on the offer and decided to move to New Delhi. The reason for chosing India he has mentioned that he wanted to be part of growing world power like India and his another interest is China.
In his address to the students here he has briefly explained about India-US strategic relationships in business, defence and international affairs. He has mentioned about the creation of CEO forum comprising of top 10 CEO’s from each countries to further increase the level of economic cooperation between two countries. He has mentioned that President Bush administration is very much willing to see India as major world power and in this direction only the secretary of state Condolina Rice on her visti to India made a candid open statement that US ready to help India to become a world power.
Dr. Mulford also delved on some economic and socio-health issues like outsourcing to India and HIV-AIDS initiative. He further added that his government opposition to Iran-India gas pipeline, his government’s support to Pakistan financially and militarily in combating international terrorism. The reason he has attributed to the opposition for the India-Iran gas pipeline is due to its economic non-viablity. I dont know why he is worrying about this project infact Indian has to worry for that not Dr. Mulford. He has made a mention about rare red carpet welcome extended to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at White House by President Bush during Dr. Singh's last visit to US. He was very proud to mention that Dr. Singh was gifted a black tie and the one to one meeting with President Bush was went off very cordially without any prepared documents and aids, it was like personal man to man relation, ie personal rapport. Dr. Mulford also mentioned about the environmental issues like green house gas emissions by US when asked by a student. He has mentioned about government-to-government contact, University-to-University contact, hospital-to-hospital, military to military, financial to financial, company-to-company contact etc.
He has mentioned about US relations with India and compared it to its relation with China, North Korea, Taiwan and Pakistan. He cautioned that UN is very much indifferent to US, and few terrorist exporting countries are opposing US moves on the floor of UN and the world’s oldest democracy was not confident in UN because of the indifferent attitude of few countries. He has explained about why U.S not supporting India openly for her bid to the permanent membership in the security council to India alignment with three other countries Germany, Japan and Brazil for the permanent members in the security council of UN. It is well known that US would support Japan not the other contenders. Also, he added that U.S is willing to reform the U.N but not the expansion of Security Council since there are other issues has to be taken care of. But he has failed to mention what are the other issues has to be taken care of? He has indicated that the new criteria formulated by the U. S definitely make India only to become a permanent member in the expanded security council. He has failed to give solid answer to why localization of power only in U. S? That’s making new weapons everyday in their labs and asking other nations not to do it.
He has failed to deliver convincing answers to most of the questions put by the students. and in his welcome address, Prof. Ananth mantioned and hoped that students would ask questions that deferent from questions on Visa and drwan lots of claps from audience.
Comment: Not proper arrangement for Mic made, shorter time for interaction, no specific issues. Questions not properly asked by the students. Simply I could sum it it is not up to the mark and its simply waste of time.
